Question About US Tourist Visa Fees From India

Michael asks…

How long can a US citizen travel to England with a passport, but without a tourist visa?

I’ve had little luck finding the answer without paying ridiculous fees for contacting the British Consulate. I understand that WITH a tourist visa I could travel to England for up to 6 months, but if I don’t have one…?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Silly me. I found a local number to the nearest British Consulate, so no worries on contacting them…

Best Answer:

You can be in England as a U.S. Citizen for up to 6 months without a visa. In your case, you only need to obtain a visa if you want to stay longer or if you want to work in the UK. I don’t think it costs much to contact the British consulate in the U.S. But you really have no reason to worry. There is no fee to pay, it is very easy to find the answer on this site: http://www.anyworkanywhere.com/visas_uk.html

LaLeeFan, the site might be a little out of date, the newest members of the EU do not need a visa either but the person asked about the US, not Romania and Bulgaria anyway…I am from a new EU country also so I know the rules.
