Hi Im a US citizen and i have a fiancee/boyfriend in the philippines, i met him when i went to philippines for college and now i m back in california, i filed for a k1 visa for my fiancee, now im planning to go back to philippines to take my board exam there for nursing, it might take 6 months for me to stay there, is it possible if i go back there? What will happen to my pending petition? Is there consequences?

Best Answer:

No real effect for the pending process.

However, it is best you have someone to open your mail and forward it to you.
There should be a letter from USCIS telling you the case is approved, plus a case
from Department of State telling you the new Manila case number. Both documents are important and should not be lost.

Once you have the Manila case number your fiance can book his interview.

As you plan to be in Phil for a long time, your fiance should delay his interview as long as
possible, to coordinate with you to both return to USA around the same time.

He can delay his interview up to 4 months from the time USCIS approves. Once he gets his visa he can delay his travel to the USA for up to 6 months. Once he arrives in the USA he can delay the wedding up to 89 days. No delays after that.

Good luck with your exams.
